Long-standing rivals Australia and England went head-to-head in the 17th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday. The intense battle took place at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, where Australia triumphed over England with a 36-run victory. The game was packed with thrilling moments and standout performances that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Tense moment between Matthew Wade and umpire Nitin Menon

One incident that drew significant attention involved Australian player Matthew Wade and on-field umpire Nitin Menon. This altercation occurred in the 18th over of Australia’s innings while Wade was set to face England’s Adil Rashid.

As Rashid bowled, Wade seemed unprepared but still managed to defend the ball back to the bowler upon realizing the delivery. According to cricket rules, the ball could have been called dead if Wade had not played a shot.

Umpire Menon addressed this by questioning Wade’s appeal for a dead ball, asking, “For what?” Wade, unhappy with Menon’s tone, moved towards him aggressively. In response, Menon gestured for Wade to back off, leading to a dramatic and memorable confrontation.
