Star Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan recently discussed his bond with ace Indian batter Virat Kohli, emphasizing their enjoyment of banter in the Punjabi language. Shadab Khan revealed that he has received support from Virat Kohli since his early days as a cricketer.
Shadab Khan made this statement ahead of the highly anticipated India-Pakistan World Cup match, scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. Both teams are excited to play in front of more than 1 lakh fans in the stands.
We Banter A Bit In Punjabi Language – Shadab Khan
In a video shared by the ICC on Instagram, Shadab Khan highlighted the positive interactions he has had with Virat Kohli and mentioned that they both enjoy engaging in friendly banter in Punjabi.
“No, I haven’t seen all (memes), but some have been sent to me. But the bond… Ever since I have been a youngster, he has always supported me in the same fashion. He has been good to me. So whenever he has met me, he has been good to me. And I enjoy that very much. Most of all things, the language. Because he speaks Punjabi, we banter a bit in Punjabi. So we enjoy it,” Shadab said.
The players from both nations have engaged in friendly conversations on several occasions during match breaks. Virat Kohli shared laughter and offered advice to Pakistani players during the Asia Cup 2023.
Not Just Virat Kohli – Shadab Khan
Shadab expressed his eagerness for the India-Pakistan match on October 14, emphasizing that it’s about meeting the Indian team, not just Virat Kohli.
“Meeting India! Not just Virat Kohli (laughs),” the Pakistan vice-captain added.
The 25-year-old entered the World Cup 2023 with a series of underwhelming performances. The all-rounder scored 32 runs against the Netherlands while batting lower down the order. He took two wickets in two matches at an average of 50 and an economy rate of 6.25.
India and Pakistan made strong stats in the World Cup, securing victories in their first two matches. The Rohit Sharma-led team beat Australia and Afghanistan in the first two matches, while the Babar Azam-led team beat the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in Hyderabad.
