South Africa crashed out in the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Proteas succumbed to the mighty Aussies after having a terrific run in the tournament. This is the fourth time in their history that South Africa failed to enter the finals after qualifying for the semi-finals. South Africa finished second on the points table, losing only two games in the league stages.
South Africa’s loss in the semi-finals left head coach Rob Walter devastated. He was asked in the post-match press conference about who is going to win the World Cup finals to which he nullified the question by saying that he doesn’t care. Walter also said that he would be hardly watching the finals.
He said, “To be honest, there’s about a 1% chance I’ll be watching. And to be even more brutally honest, I actually don’t care.” Iceland Cricket took a jibe at Rob Walter on ‘X’ as they replied to his statement saying that they will be watching every ball of the much-awaited World Cup final between the two mighty teams.

This is the difference between us and them. We will be watching every ball, hoping for a fantastic match between the two best teams in the tournament. https://t.co/WkyCcUviuv

Iceland Cricket stated, “This is the difference between us and them. We will be watching every ball, hoping for a fantastic match between the two best teams in the tournament.” It seems Rob Walter lost all interest in the tournament after South Africa lost the semi-finals against Australia on Thursday.
Australian new-ball duo Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc decimated the Proteas batter in the powerplay allowing them to score only 18 runs. However, a gritty innings of 101 from David Miller took the South African scorecard to 212. In response, Australia managed to chase the target with three wickets and 16 balls in hand.
Australia will now lock horns with the unbeaten hosts India in the finals. The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. While Australia will be looking to win their sixth World Cup title, India will hope to end the long drought of an ICC trophy.
