England faced Scotland at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and secured a dominant 10-wicket win that significantly boosted their hopes of a last-four place at the Women’s T20 World Cup. Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt shone with unbeaten knocks of  62 and 51, as England needed just over to breeze past the modest target of 110.

Scotland won the toss and opted to bat, a decision that initially seemed promising. Saskia Horley and Sarah Bryce gave their team a steady start, laying a solid foundation. However, accelerating the run rate proved challenging. Horley was the first to fall, outsmarted by Nat Sciver-Brunt, giving England their breakthrough. A few overs later, Bryce departed after a well-made 27, dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone, leaving Scotland in a spot of bother at 50/2.

Kathryn Bryce provided brief support to Ailsa Lister as they tried to rebuild the innings, but Lister couldn’t stay long, falling to Danielle Gibson, who cleverly varied her pace. Lorna Jack’s golden duck further pushed Scotland onto the backfoot at 77/4. With Bryce losing partners and eventually being bowled by Charlie Dean for 33, Scotland’s hopes dwindled. The lack of partnerships hurt their momentum, and they were ultimately restricted to 109/6.

England came out to bat brimming with confidence, dismantling the Scottish bowlers with ease. Bouchier andWyatt unleashed a flurry of shots across the ground, setting the tone early and taking the game away from Scotland at a rapid pace. Both batters mixed classic cricketing strokes with powerful hits, exploiting gaps in the field. Their commanding partnership made the chase look effortless, as England reached the target in just half the allotted overs. They now know exactly what they need to do against West Indies to seal yet another semi-final place.
