Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has been dropped from the playing XI for the match against the Pat Cummins-led side in the ICC World Cup 2023. Shadab Khan failed to secure his place in the team following a string of poor performances with the ball in recent ODIs.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20. The Pakistan team made a sole change to their playing XI from their previous match, with leg-spinner Usama Mir replacing Shadab Khan.
Usama Mir To Make His ODI World Cup Debut
Shadab Khan failed to perform up to expectations in the ongoing World Cup, where the conditions are favorable to spin bowlers. The Pakistan vice-captain picked up just two wickets in three matches, with a dismal average of 65.50 and an economy rate of 6.55.
Usama Mir will make his ODI World Cup debut for Pakistan during the high-voltage game against Australia. The 27-year-old made his debut against New Zealand earlier this year. He has represented the national team in 8 matches, taking 11 wickets at an average of 35.09.
Shadab Khan Is Not Playing – Babar Azam
During the toss for the Australia-Pakistan match, Babar Azam mentioned that Shadab is not part of the playing XI, with Usama Mir coming in as his replacement.
“We will bowl first. The pitch looks really good. We have had a couple of good sessions. We are hoping to do well. We need to do well in batting. We will try our best. Shadab is not playing. Usama comes in,” Babar said.
