BBL 2023-24: Watch – Fan Gets Hurt As He Attempts To Catch Macalister Wright’s Six Off Marcus Stoinis

The 17th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 is taking place between Hobart Hurricanes and the Melbourne Stars. The game between the two teams is taking place at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

The BBL game so far is equally poised as both Hobart Hurricanes and the Melbourne Stars are giving their best. Asked to bat first, the hosts didn’t have a great start as they lost Matthew Wade for just 1 run early in the innings.

But after that, Caleb Jewell (45) and Macalister Wright (33) brought Hobart Hurricanes back into the game and played some great shots. The duo took the attack back to the opposition and hit the bowlers all over the park, making sure that they made up for the early blow of Wade.

Macalister Wright in particular played some great shots and one of his best came early on in the innings. He hit a magnificent six to Marcus Stoinis but more than a shot something else caught the attention of many.

During the fourth ball of the fourth over of the first innings, Marcus Stoinis bowled a freebie on the pads to Macalister Wright. The batter backed away a bit and whipped it away for a massive six in the deep mid-wicket stand.

As the ball went towards the stands, a spectator there tried to take the catch. He failed to grab it and ended up getting injured. He fell over the chairs in the stands and looked in pain.

Here’s the video of the incident in BBL:

Macalister Wright after that played some breathtaking shots as well but couldn’t convert the start he got. The batter ended with an inning of 33 runs off 19 balls but provided his team with much-needed momentum. He batted with a strike rate of around 174 and also smashed three fours and 2 sixes.

Caleb Jewell on the other hand played a decent knock and fell just 5 runs short of his half-century. He soaked in all the pressure and played some crisp shots in his innings. He ended with the knock of 45 runs off 37 balls with the help of 5 fours.

BBL 2023-24: Hobart Hurricanes end up with a total of 155 runs on the board

After the staggering outings with bat by Macalister Wright and Caleb Jewell, the middle and the lower order failed to cash on the platform they got. Skipper Glenn Maxwell for his team Melbourne Stars bowled sensationally and picked three wickets and brought his team back in the game, putting Hobart Hurricanes under pressure.

Nikhil Chaudhary in the end tried to play some shots and made sure that he took his team close to 150 runs. The right-hander scored 32 runs off 16 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Chris Jordan (11) tried to get going but Haris Rauf was all over the Hobart Hurricanes tailenders. He troubled them with his fast bowling and put his team at the top. The fast bowler picked up three wickets and helped his team restrict Hobart Hurricanes to a total of just 155 runs. Apart from Maxwell and Rauf, Joel Paris, Imad Wasim, and Usama Mir were amongst the wickets in BBL game.
